Tablature & Songs
You must learn songs! Remember, music is a language and to speak it you must memorize songs! I'm listing a few Tab sites that are useful and I'll be listing additional resources for you on an ongoing basis. Fake Books have the essentials of a song minus the solos....these are great though. Sometimes you want to add a song to your repertoire but don't have the time or (currently)the ability to learn the solos but here you can memorize a song. Down the road, if you want, you can learn the solos and add them in. I use Fake Books with my students especially in conjuction with the "Power Chords" book I list in Rock under the Instruction Methods tab. Once a student can play power chords and has a few songs from a Fake Book memorized, then we can start working on lead guitar.
